HITS Triathlon 2017
Ave Maria had 8 triathletes in the OPEN HITS Triathlon on Jan 8th. Two got 2nd place, five got 1st place in their age groups and One got the Overall 3rd place. We braved the cold weather (Florida standard) and it was a really exciting day.

Festival of Lights 2016
This was our fourth year participate in the parade of the Festival of Lights. We joined force with FAITHCHEC and had over 30 children on the float. Ave Maria 3rd Annual Triathlon, November 12th, 2016
We partnered with All Life Precious and added 5K into the program. It was a chilly morning. Big thanks to the AMU Lacrosse team and all volunteer parents to make it a success.
First swim meet this year - T2 Spooktacular - Oct 29
We attended the Spooktacular Swim meet hosted by T2 Aquatics at Naples. The swimmers had done so well and well over our expectation. We set the goal to have at least 10 swimmers break their PR and total 20+ PR broken. We ended up with ALL swimmers had new PR and broke 50 PR during these 2-day meet. The entire team will be going to skate to celebrate. Few key highlights:
Great team!!!

Final Score:
HITS Triathlon Naples - A Great Start for year 2016
Eleven club members, including all coaches competed in the Open race on Jan 10th at Naples. Besides Dominic, our 1st runner-up in the November Mini-Triathlon, who has been sick for about 2 weeks (still finished the race!!!), all finished top 3 places in their age groups. Francis, again won the 2nd male overal, and others took home three 1st place, one 2nd place, and five 3rd place. Looking forward for more members to join us in the next great race.
Triathlon Seminar with Pro-Triathlete, Aubrey Aldy
We are honored to have Aubrey Aldy to give us a very informative seminar. He demonstrated end-to-end on a triathlon event starting with how to prepare, warm up, start and covered all the transitions. It was extremely helpful. Please see videos here.
Festival of Lights Parade
Once again this is our third year to join in the parade and we made a beautiful float with a lot of lights and angels this year.
T2 Spooktacular Meet - Oct 23 & 24, 2015
It was another amazing day for our swimmers. 2nd meet of the season. EVERYONE of the swimmers had a new PR. Their hard work really shows result. Big thanks to the coaches and swimmers effort. Besides breaking new personal records, Derba got 4 new "BB" times, Joe and Gianna also got new ""BB" times and Ben also got another new "B" time. See more pictures here.
First USA Swimming sanctioned Meet
On 9/19/15, eight of our swimmers from the newly formed competitive team attended the GCST Invitational Meet. So many of the PRs are broken. I was surprised to see so many of them broke their 50's record while swimming 100. These swimmers are amazing. Joe also advanced on three strokes to ""BB" standard. Way to go for their first meet.
Club's First "A" swimmer
During the summer conference, Francis qualified for "A" standard, which is our first.
Back to Ave Maria Water Park
We are moving some of the practices back to Ave Maria Water Park. It is a great news and definitely ease the stress on the coaches with less traveling. We expect to start on Apr 6th, Monday afternoon for the Spring season. Details will follow.
Triathlon
More and more of our swimmers are getting stronger through regular swim, also we have seen very good results in the recent endurance sports such as the HITS Triathlon and Ribeye 5K Run that they are competing in. Francis finished 2nd place overall in Male OPEN division. We want to focus more on their core building through dryland exercise. We also want to see if there is interest to start a Youth Triathlon Group. If you are interested, please talk to your coaches.

Two Shark Team Swimmers reach milestones
Two of our swimmers reach the USA swimming "B" motivational time standard during the first meet of the summer. Congratulation! Hard works always pay off.
First Win for the Summer Swim Conference
We are very lucky to win at our first meet at Norris pool today (6/21). We had the benefit of having swimmers spread across different age groups. We are competing against Monterey MonteRays team. They are super friendly and its founder, Coach Day gave us a lot of hints and tips on running the team. They have been running the summer swim program in the area for 21 years and are well respected.
Most importantly, our swimmers had the experience of competing with other teams and showing good attitudes. Everyone is trying very hard and work as a team. We are very proud of them.

The weather was beautiful and we had a fun and happy meet. A lot of swimmers had their personal records. The Village School's coaches and swimmers were very friendly and everyone enjoyed a great day of fast pace swimming. We were amazed on how many heats the children can swim in a short span of time, absolutely encouraging to see our swimmers were enjoying the meet. Also big thank you to the parents that were there helping as timers. Can't do it without your commitment.

How does the swimmer’s snorkel benefit you in fitness training?
The swimmer’s snorkel allows one to focus more on their stroke technique instead of worrying about turning the heard to breathe. The snorkel is down the middle of the face instead of off to the side so it doesn’t get in the way of your arms when doing the strokes.
What other benefits does the swimmer’s snorkel provide?
It helps increase aerobic capacity, stays in place during any stroke including flip turns, and allows the swimmer to focus on their swim and not their breaths.
Swim fins are a great training aid for both the recreational and competitive swimmer, and the benefits are numerous for those who use swim fins. All swimmers will get a sense and feel of proper kicking technique when using swim fins. Less experienced and beginning swimmers will recognize the effectiveness of a proper kicking cadence and how that translates into increased thrust and propulsion when using swim fins. Swim fins help all swimmers increase their leg strength and maximize their overall conditioning, while the advanced and competitive swimmer appreciate the fact that using swim fins will not put undue strain on muscles during long training hours in the water.
